No one can really prepare you for anything in your life, you know? Because we may go through something that someone else has been through but we may deal with it different. Let me be honest. NO one could prepare for my college experience. I loved it sometimes but hated it other times. It just depended on what was happening. Things changed for me. I found a love for school, interestingly enough because I still feel like I don't like it. I love learning and searching for new things to apply my life, my future. This made me think about my future a lot.. And sometimes too much. :/ [I am not writing this to scare anyone from college this is just my experience.] ANYWAY. So the last thing I wanted to do when I was a senior was to go to college... YEAH. I was going to be "one of those kids" who just skips college. Because they can. BUT I knew that really I wanted to. I wanted to be a teacher. I need an education to be in education. I love children. End of story. Just little ones. Like between the age of 2-5. I swear they are angels.
SOOO... My whole senior year, I put off applying for college because my ACT scores were in the toilet (they weren't good). I was afraid of being rejected anywhere, so my conclusion was no college. It seemed like a good idea at the time. The closer graduation got, the more I heard kids talking about where they were going. I kind of, to be honest. Felt left out, I mean college always sounded fun cute boys, and living on your own. (okay the living on your own just gave me anxiety) haha. So graduation was creeping just around the corner, a big one, one month. I would pray constantly asking my Heavenly Father guidance to help me decide, what I needed to do. So after no response (after like a day, I am impatient) I found my patriarchal blessing and read it over and over again. But nothing really stuck out to me. But then I thought about it. I knew somewhere in there it said something like "stay in school" haha how perfect. THANK YOU... So that was my decision college is where I needed to be. Now where to go? That is such a personal choice. Talk about CRAZY. I remember one day my teacher told me about the school she used to work at Snow College. And I was super interested, so I went and toured, my decision was made.
So I graduated, and the whole summer I had something to worry about ;) haha Those were some stressful days, I mean I have no idea why school makes me stress like NOBODY'S Business! So the whole summer was like this... What if I fail my first semester? What if I have no friends? What if ... everything pretty much. I was searching for things to worry about it felt like. I would have sudden bursts of anxiety. At the end, I would think it was ridiculous the things I would fret about. How embarrassing. Well summer was coming to the end last year, and I couldn't think of anything I was more afraid of. But it came. I had an okay first semester. Once I was done crying myself to sleep because I was homesick... Then I could be okay. My first semester was stressful, but I made it through. PASSING. Thank the heavens. There was drama towards the end... That made me cringe beyond reasoning. Just because girls hold lots of drama. I think that was hard for me because I have never had anyone just put me down so hard in my life. Luckily me and my BFF seriously FOREVER went through that together. We cried together, then we realized we didn't do anything so we laughed together. :) I learned a lot during that time just because people who don't want to be your friends won't make an effort, so you shouldn't try too hard. (Good times)...
The next semester (LAST) was sooo much fun!!! I was roommates with Lynsey! She is really the bomb, we have fun yet we know when we need to settle down and work! So let's see I took Math 1010 and that was really hard for me... Just because math is math... But I did survive. :) With a B+ none the less. I am really grateful for my friend and my family because they are great a support system! So I got A's and B's!! Holla! Less drama. ( THANK GOODNESS) and way more time studying... which sucked but in the end was totally worth it! ;) I love school more than ever just because I realize how important it is!
This coming semester I will be roommates with my best friend (again) and we have all but one class together! HALLELUJAH. None of that awkward first day of class when everyone is just looking around at everyone trying to read right through them. We will be together!!! haha So I am pretty excited for this coming fall, meeting new people and moving towards my goals! That roughly sums up my college career for now. ;)
Here is A List Of Things No One Really Tells you To Prepare you for College:
1. Boys are not priority (most of them are taken... or weird RMs) (at least where I go)
2. Don't go on blind dates (there is probably a reason he won't ask you himself)
3. College is getting you ready for the real world... So I would take it seriously.
4. This is about Finding YOURSELF, but not following others examples.
5. Don't sweat the small stuff (seriously.)
6. This is the time where your faith is truly tested. (It's your choice now)
7. Make good friends and they will be there for you through thick and thin.
8. Make sure you thank your parents just for being there for you! Encouraging you!
9. It will all be okay (When you feel lonely, just remember to pray)
10. Make college fun without the partying (because, parties are lame and you want to be awesome) ;)
haha that list is only half serious. Just take what you can from it! That is all I have to say today!
Thanks! BYE...
